Cap and Gown
Purchase your cap, gown and tassel regalia from The Cove Bookstore during CI’s Grad Fest to be held on March 5 and 6. Regalia will only be available for purchase (no rentals), so you may keep your cap and gown in addition to your 2014 tassel. Additionally, this year’s gowns are eco-friendly made from post-consumer recycled material. Gowns may be recycled at the conclusion of Commencement at tables located near the South Quad entrances.
Total cost for undergraduates and credential students to purchase a cap, tassel and gown is $44 plus tax. For graduate students, the cost for master’s regalia (cap, gown, tassel, and hood) is $77 plus tax. You may also purchase your cap, gown and other accessories at The Cove Bookstore after CI’s Grad Fest; however, sizes are not guaranteed. Remember, you must be robed in a cap and gown to participate in the ceremony. Candidates not wearing the preferred attire will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.

Portable pop-up tents are not allowed in the South Quad. Several umbrellas and trees provide shade for guests who need to be protected from the sun.
Sequence of Events
The formal procession will begin promptly at the start of each ceremony. Staff will instruct degree candidates to line up by degree and major. The University’s Chief Marshal will lead the procession followed by other University Marshals, the degree candidates, faculty, and then the platform party. Once everyone is seated, the ceremony will begin. After invited speakers have concluded, University Marshals will lead their degree candidates to the stage where each graduating student will have their name announced. As graduating students cross the stage they will receive a tube that they will exchange for a diploma cover at the conclusion of the ceremony. Each ceremony is expected to last approximately 1 ½ to 2 hours.
Photography & Video
Family members will not be allowed on or in front of the stage to take photographs or video, and may only take photographs or video in the designated photo/video areas and from audience seats. For public safety reasons, guests will not be allowed to take pictures or videos from the main aisle ways and will be asked by University Police to clear the area. We ask that family members be courteous of others when taking photos/videos.
GradImages, a professional photography company, will be taking pictures of the ceremony and of each degree candidate. GradImages photographers will also be available at the conclusion of the ceremony to take pictures of graduates with the University President or family members at a designated area in the South Quad. All professional proofs will be mailed within one week after the event to the address provided on the Reader Card (provided to degree candidates during check-in). You may order photographs online at www.gradimages.com or call 800-261-2576.
